I can’t wait to find out why she fell out with this beotch!
I can’t believe the viral Twitter thread that I LOVED is finally a movie ready to be enjoyed with my ‘hoes’ <cough> girlfriends! If this isn’t a reason for all of us to get the Covid Vaccine so we can see a movie I don’t know what the hell is worthy of a poke (other than herd immunity, concern for others, to avoid becoming sick, etc). If you weren’t on Twitter back in 2015 <let me refresh your memory>. The story follows Zola a Detroit waitress, her friend Stefani and plans to make some money. They head out for a ‘hoe trip’ to Florida and all the drama ensued tearing them apart.
I have to say this trailer lives up her delightful tweets and then some. Gosh darn it I want a hoe weekend to make some money! I got rent to pay, dreams of a new crossover, and want some mayhem!
Thus began the odyssey of one A’Ziah King, aka ZOLA. From acclaimed writer/director Janicza Bravo, Zola’s stranger than fiction saga, which she first told in a now iconic series of viral, uproarious tweets, comes to dazzling cinematic life.
Zola (Taylour Paige), a Detroit waitress, strikes up a new friendship with a customer, Stefani (Riley Keough), who seduces her to join a weekend of dancing and partying in Florida. What at first seems like a glamorous trip full of “hoeism” rapidly transforms into a 48-hour journey involving a nameless pimp, an idiot boyfriend, some Tampa gangsters and other unexpected adventures in this wild, see-it-to-believe-it tale.
