It’s been at the Pantages since June 19th but July 1st is the last day and you have to see this fun musical. It’s the Broadway tour winner of the Tony award and is touring the US. If you want to see Million Dollar Quartet on their final day at Pantages click on link for tickets. If you want to see Million Dollar Quartet in your city click on link where you can see where it’s heading next (Canada and Japan than back to the US).
I LOVED seeing this musical it’s a fun show that feels more like your watching the backstage of a concert. It’s got a great cast portraying Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley. It’s a story that I’m not familiar with .. well I mean EVERYONE knows about Elvis Presley and Sun Records run by Sam Phillips “The Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” but I didn’t know as much about the other singers. Watching the show gave me a little history but more importantly I got to hear music that I wasn’t familiar with and their backgrounds. Now I must admit that I love Elvis with his wicked hips and sultry good looks.
Check out my two reviews on youtube and youtube2 as well as the Million Dollar Quartet Red Carpet where I briefly interviewed Priscilla Presley and other stars. I even attended the Opening Night Party at the Rolling Stone Restaurant at Hollywood & Highland with the cast other attendees.
MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is set on December 4, 1956, when an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together. Sam Phillips, the “Father of Rock ‘n’ Roll” who was responsible for launching the careers of each icon, brought the four legendary musicians together at the Sun Records storefront studio in Memphis for the first and only time. The resulting evening became known as one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll jam sessions in history. MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET brings that legendary night to life, featuring a score of rock hits including “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Fever,” “That’s All Right,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “Walk the Line,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” “Who Do You Love?,” “Matchbox,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog” and more.
