Therapeutic Living Centers Red Carpet Capital Campaign Fundraiser Wrapup

Spread the love

I worked the Red Carpet for TLC’s Bags to Riches Red Carpet Charity Event on September 21, 2011 presented by SBE and Affinity Nightlife.   The event featured a live and silent auction of designer purses and high end accessories.  100% of proceeds went to help babies, children and teens who are blind and autistic.  The event was held at the Colony in Hollywood and appetizers were donated by Patina Catering.  Sweet E’s donated the gourmet desserts and the open bar was sponsored by Ciroc and Alize.  The event gift bag sponsored by Bliss, MAC cosmetics, KRMA by Nicholas Bowes and OPI.  Other sponsors included SBE, Wells Fargo, Affinity Nightlife LA, LA Times, LA Weekly/OC Weekly, Ciroc, Hennessy Black, Alize, God’s Plan Productions, Vine Street Hit Factory, NoHo Energy Drink, KRMA by Nicholas Bowes, Bliss, Diamond Car Services, Bubbles Dry Cleaners, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Betsey Johnson, Gucci and GlamGlow.

Therapeutic Living Centers

Since the organization began almost 35 years ago, TLC (Therapeutic Living Centers/ www.tlc4blind.org) has worked to provide for the lifetime needs of babies, children, teens and adults who are blind and autistic and live in Southern California.

We are in the final stages of a Capital Campaign to build a preschool and center for our kids program (The Conrad Hilton Foundation gave $4.5 million, Ahmanson Foundation $250,000 and Keck Foundation $250,000!!). Our event goal is to raise the remaining $175,000 that is needed to begin building the preschool and children’s center, and help support our Early Intervention Program. We serve children from all areas of Los Angeles, as well as the Valley. Currently the only preschool for the children we work with is in downtown Los Angeles. I can’t imagine any three year old getting on a school bus from San Fernando to downtown Los Angeles…it’s even more frightening and sad to know that these children are not only autistic but cannot see — they have a visual disability too. The need is urgent.

I’m inspired by the kids we serve, their siblings, and their families every single day at TLC! No matter what challenges they are facing, their thankfulness for the help and support that they get lets me know that the work we do as an organization is invaluable…its life changing…it’s critical in giving these kids and their families hope for the future..and that’s why any help to publicize our event and cause would be incredible!!
