With an amazing cast and the visual effects of live action The Lion King remake is indeed quite an experience. However, if you had any love at all for the original it leaves you hoping for more. While the story of Simba is still touching this more dramatic take seems to fall short. The comedy of the original added a depth or balance to the movie that made you fall in love with the characters…. the hyenas in the original were hilarious now they are mostly just scary. Beyonce did better than expected as Nala but it’s really her musical talent and new album that soars. The visual live action of this movie was incredible but for those of us who saw the original it feels like losing a dear old friend.
