The Baby-Sitters Club book series were a pivotal part of my bookworm childhood. When i was old enough to watch my younger cousins on my own, I’d like to think that the BSC had a huge influence on my babysitting style.
With over 131 books by author Ann M. Martin,(121 Little Sister spin offs) these books spanned generations and also produced a 1995 live action film starring Larisa Oleynik (The Secret World of Alex mack), Rachel Leigh Cook (She’s All That), Zelda Harris (Second Noah), and many more young actors. My 9 year old self was absolutely in love with the film and the casting.
The BSC is still very relevant with new graphic novels of the books and Netflix is bringing the series straight to your TV. The series about five friends who begin a babysitting service, has already began filming and is being helmed by Broad City’s Lucia Aniello.
Leading the cast (who have not all been announced yet) is Clueless star Alicia Silverstone and USA’s Royal Pains Mark Feuerstein.
No word on a release date for the 10-episode series. But with filming underway in Vancouver, there will hopefully be more news soon.
