Celebrating the 40th anniversary of ALIEN, Legion M and Screen Media are bringing Alexandre O. Philippe‘s MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN to select nationwide theaters and On Demand on October 4
When I was a kid my dad took my sister and I to a sneak preview of Alien. We knew NOTHING about the film other than the poster and I remember my dad telling my mom it was ‘like Star Wars’. To this day I still remember seeing Alien as a child. My sister and I screamed until our voices went out AND had nightmares for weeks. My dad wouldn’t leave the movie because he wanted to know how it turned out so yes we were so traumatized but I still loved the film. Until I took sex-ed in Jr. High I thought that was how women gave birth so no babies for me <giggle>. I’m beyond excited to see this in the theatre since it’s focused on the iconic “Chestburster” scene.
Now that we’re celebrating the 40th anniversary of the iconic Alien. Legion M and Screen Media will be releasing Alexandre O. Philippe‘s MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN to select theaters nationwide. The film that broke all the rules spawning a new generation of science fiction horror filmmakers we learn how it came to life.
Philippe (“78/52,” “The People vs. George Lucas,” “Doc of the Dead”) gives fans a glimpse of how the classic science fiction film with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, the untold origin story behind Ridley Scott (my personal favorite) film and has access to Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger extensive collection of materials that include original story notes, rejected designs and storyboards, and O’Bannon’s original 29 page script from 1971, titled “Memory.”
MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN celebrates Legion M’s significant industry milestone: they are the first entertainment company solely owned by fans to purchase a film at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Fans, and not corporate America or big box studios, bought one of the most sought-after and highly anticipated documentaries of the year.
Legion M cofounders Paul Scanlan and Jeff Annison discussed how the company used its innovative Film SCOUT platform at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to harness the power and knowledge of the Legion’s more than 100,000 members of which 20,000 are fan-owners of the company, to select and purchase MEMORY: THE ORIGINS OF ALIEN.
