Flash Gordon, starring Sam J. Jones as the title character, opened in theaters in 1980. Forty-three years later, the film is still popular. Repertory theaters still screen it to full houses. New editions with new bonus features are released every few years on home video. Fans can watch Jones as Gordon save the universe over and over again.
Cherry the Geek TV caught up with Jones at San Diego Comic Con to talk about the legacy of the film, discuss why the character has endured all these years, and chat about how Seth MacFarlane’s movie Ted rejuvenated the character and Jones’ career for a younger audience.
