French Stewart, who played wacky alien Harry Solomon in NBC’s Third Rock From the Sun from 1996-2001, says the show still appeals to people because it’s “stupid smart.”
Reruns of Third Rock From the Sun currently air daily on the free COZI-TV network, along with other favorites like Will and Grace, Frasier, Little House on the Prairie, Columbo, and The Six Million Dollar Man.
Cherry the Geek TV spoke to Stewart at the COZI-TV activation at Comic-Con International in San Diego, where fans could enter a sweepstakes to win a replica of the Rambler car owned by the Solomons in the series.
“It’s sort of smart but it’s really stupid and it’s a good way to kill 22 minutes,” said Stewart about the show. “It’s fun, and it’s warm, but it’s also moronic, and I think it really holds up that way.”
Stewart says fans still approach him about the show with lines or episodes that he’s forgotten. “They’ll say ‘There was that episode with Mark Hamill,’ and I’ll say ‘Oh yeah, Mark Hamill was on the show!’ or they’ll say William Shatner, and I’ll say “Oh yeah, William Shatner was on the show!’ It’s fun,” he said.
