It’s the sixth annual My RØDE Reel and they’ve made it BIGGER and when I say BIGGER I mean $1 Million dollars (USD) are up for grab in the short film competition! Filmmakers have two weeks left until entries close for My RØDE Reel. The RØDE Microphones’ film competition closes on Wednesday, October 7th at 12 PM.

This year the major prize is $200,000 (USD) for the best film using RØDE microphones and accessories. In addition to the cash prize pool, RØDE is giving away a prize pack to the winners of the 10 categories with gear from the world’s leading filmmaking brands, including Lumix, Nanlite, Zhiyun, Mzed, Musicbed, Rhino, Adobe, Brevite, Pelican, Arri and, of course, RØDE microphones and accessories. The total prize pool is over $1.5 million and is the biggest offering for any short film competition.
A prize with cash and gear would make a huge difference in a director’s life and for the past six years, the My RØDE Reel has been the World’s Largest Short Film Competition. Since launching the Short Film Competition they’ve had more than 16,000 film entries from 94 different countries! RØDE has awarded over $3.5 million in prizes to both emerging and established filmmakers from across the globe. My RØDE Reel has been instrumental in launching hundreds of careers by providing a global platform for filmmakers to gain exposure, offering grants and scholarships, and giving away tons of RØDE microphones and filmmaking gear.
In addition to the Judges’ Choice, there are 9 categories: five genre categories – Drama, Comedy, Action, Documentary, Animation, and Behind-The-Scenes – and four special categories – People’s Choice, Sound Design, Young Filmmaker, and Best Chinese Film. The top three films for each category will receive a cash prize – all-in-all, 28 filmmakers will win a share in the prize money.
HOW TO ENTER
- Head to myrodereel.com and log in or sign up for an account to access the starter pack. This contains the My RØDE Reel title card, which must feature at the start of your film.
- Make a 3-minute short film. The brief is completely open – use the different categories to inspire the direction of your film.
- Make a 3-minute behind-the-scenes (BTS) film featuring a RØDE product.
- Upload your short film and BTS to YouTube, then submit this link to myrodereel.com.
- Share your film for a chance to win the People’s Choice Prizes.
