Profile looks really handsome <cough> good based on the book by Anna Erelle
I saw the trailer for Profile and was immediately intrigued by the film inspired by a true story ‘In the skin of a Jihadist’ by Anna Erelle. The film looks to examine how tech-savvy terrorist recruiters use social media to groom girls/women and boys/men to join ISIS. Profile has a great feeling of who’s really in control as British journalist Amy (Valene Kane) begins to fall under the spell of Abu Bilel Al-Britani (Shazad Latif) as he cajoles her with flattery and flirtation in one ear while her editor Vick (Christine Adams) tries to keep her grounded and focused in the other. The film will be in theatres on May 14th and already has me guessing who is being tempted, where is Abu, and what game is afoot.
PROFILE follows an undercover British journalist in her quest to bait and expose a terrorist recruiter through social media, while trying not to be sucked in by her recruiter and lured into becoming a militant extremist herself. The unconventional thriller plays out entirely on a computer screen in the Screenlife format, pioneered by Bekmambetov.
