To Infinity and Beyond this summer
I fell in love with Toy Story from the first moment I saw it so long ago. The connection between the boy and his toys brought back my own memories of playing with my doll as my imagination ran wild.
When I saw the first teaser trailer at first I couldn’t place the voice since the animation was so different but when it clicked <yowza> I got so excited! When I watched the films I always imagined all sorts of backstories for all the characters from Barbie to Mr. Potatohead and the little green army men. I always thought the toys were so different some of them had to be gifts from family, bday party gifts, and others that he asked for aka Woody (since he loved him first and the most).
I thought the final Toy Story movie was the end but this new expansion of the universe has me giggling with childish joy. I, me, well all of us will learn Buzz Lightyears’ origin story and I like that they’ve created a visual line with a very different animation style. I think it makes sense since he’s a ‘real’ person in this animated film. I can’t believe we have to wait till June 17th for this to come out! Well, I’m counting it as an early birthday gift to find out the origin story of Buzz (Chris Evans) with his friends and new adventures. I want to learn about ALL of them including his BFF/Co-Pilot Alisha Hawthorne (Uzo Aduba), his archnemesis Zurg (James Brolin), and the rest of the crew! Keke Palmer and Taika Waititi I am sure will add great voices and cheeky humor. Really all the cast sounds like they will make this film stand on its own but still respect the original film series. Pixar is the animated studio that always has nurtured the Toy Story film and holiday TV specials so it’s in good hands Angus MacLane (screenplay/director) wrote the Halloween special Toy Story of Terror (shockingly scary) and Jason Headley (screenplay).
I look forward to seeing this and writing a review. I’m so excited and I won’t hide it!
What do you think of the newest trailer?
Lightyear: The definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy, “Lightyear” follows the legendary Space Ranger after he’s marooned on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth alongside his commander and their crew. As Buzz tries to find a way back home through space and time, he’s joined by a group of ambitious recruits and his charming robot companion cat, Sox. Complicating matters and threatening the mission is the arrival of Zurg, an imposing presence with an army of ruthless robots and a mysterious agenda.
The film features the voices of Chris Evans as accomplished Space Ranger Buzz Lightyear, Uzo Aduba as his commander and best friend Alisha Hawthorne, and Peter Sohn as Sox. Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, and Dale Soules lend their voices to the Junior Zap Patrol’s Izzy Hawthorne, Mo Morrison, and Darby Steel, respectively, and James Brolin can be heard as the enigmatic Zurg.
