Netflix announced that the new sci-fi/horror thriller “Oxygen” from French filmmaker Alexandre Aja (High Tension, Crawl, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha) will be debuting on its platform on May 12, 2021.
Today Netflix released the trailer as well as some key art and images.
“Oxygen” is a French survival thriller directed by Aja. The film tells the story of a young woman (Mélanie Laurent, 6 Underground, Inglourious Basterds), who wakes up in a cryogenic pod. She doesn’t remember who she is or how she ended up there. As she’s running out of oxygen, she must rebuild her memory to find a way out of her nightmare.
I’m a little curious about this one. Aja’s previous films are gory and intense. This looks very self contained, although her memories/flashbacks seem like they will help break up the monotony that usually bog this type of film down.
