Scammers gonna scam especially in heels and sunglasses! Bad girls bad girls!
Netflix is having a full slate of new films for 2021 and it includes I Care A Lot written and directed by J Blakeson after seeing the trailer at TIFF 2020. I wasn’t able to see a screening but added to my ‘must see’ list once it’s released. The film stars Rosamund Pike who played quite the vengeful scorned woman in Gone Girl so am delighted that I will finally be able to see her in this cat and mouse drama on February 19, 2021 on Netflix.
I do love an evil woman and Marla Grayson (Rosamund Pike) has a smile full of bad intentions as a Court Appointed Guardian who finally may have met her match while scheming to fleece the ‘kindly’ Jennifer Peterson (Dianne Wiest). Unluckily for Marla this sheep has her own Shepard in Peter Dinklage and he doesn’t take kindly for her plans to steal from Jennifer. He is quite malevolent as he decides to let her know this is one ‘Bo Peep’ aka shepard that isn’t going to let his sheep get eaten and after a nice warning doesn’t get across to her takes it up a notch. It looks like a battle of predators with VERY sharp teeth and neither has any intentions of letting this lamb get away. This film reminds me of a much darker Dirty Rotten Scoundrels! I can’t wait for February!
I CARE A LOT: Poised with sharklike self-assurance, Marla Grayson (Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike) is a professional, court-appointed guardian for dozens of elderly wards whose assets she seizes and cunningly bilks through dubious but legal means. It’s a well-oiled racket that Marla and her business-partner and lover Fran (Eiza González) use with brutal efficiency on their latest “cherry,” Jennifer Peterson (two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest) — a wealthy retiree with no living heirs or family. But when their mark turns out to have an equally shady secret of her own and connections to a volatile gangster (Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage), Marla is forced to level up in a game only predators can play — one that’s neither fair, nor square.
Rounding out the cast led by Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage and Dianne Wiest are Eiza González, Chris Messina, Macon Blair, Alicia Witt, Damian Young, with Isiah Whitlock Jr.
