Halloween is fast approaching and this is the first of the scary halloween horrors you can attend over the month in Los Angeles.

“The Thing: Assimilation” is the highlight of this year’s frightfest from Universal Studios. Pegged to the remake (yes, another one) of the classic ’50s thriller, the theme park version features a re-creation of the Antarctica science station, complete with shape-shifting alien.

Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, and Eli Roth are getting their freak on as inspirations for Universal Studios’ annual frightfest. There’ll be mazes devoted to Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses film, Cooper’s Welcome to My Nightmare stagecraft, and Roth’s Hosteltorture-porn flicks.
