Am so excited but apprehensive about the new season of Game of Thrones since they have finally left my beloved novels behind after speeding through George R.R. Martin’s glacial writing pace. Now I have to admit I was lucky enough to see a sneak peak of the tonight’s premier episode last week at #USC. It was really good a nice episode that gives an overview of the new storylines as we finally get to see Dorn (Spain) with an influx of characters that seem quite intriguing. Now I’m not going to be a jerk and say ‘nah nah nah’ with book spoilers or even sneak peak spoilers but I will say that no more ‘well I’ve read the books’ smirks can no longer be dropped like mics. We are ALL in the dark going forward on this journey across the Seven Kingdoms with Whitewalkers, rather the Starks (unlikely), Lannisters or Targaryen or some other family will finally end up on the Iron Throne. If you’ve been reading the books you know that George has no loyalty to any character and allows the story to dictate who lives or dies rather you love them or not. I remember when he killed the wolves and how it broke something in Arya and I (bitter tears over a sister’s disloyalty, a cruel young man and how powerless she felt). One of the things that I enjoy about GOT is that the female characters are quite rich in personality and how they survive. Some by being lucky enough to be in a noble house, others with cunning and a few by the ability to fight. It’s how many women feel even today that since we are not physically strong we have to use other gifts.
Who knows maybe I’LL end up on the throne looking like a boss! <guffaw> no I’d just end up dead!
Who are you hoping to see this see this season on GOT? Let me know in the comments below.
