If you are looking for a new brunch spot with great views near the LAX I have to let you in on my new spot secret <shh>.
I was invited to enjoy a brunch with a few other people and get to enjoy a private dining experience. I drove over with a vague plan of enjoying conversation and a little shopping since it’s so near the independent shops and the Culver City mall. When I first drove up I realized the area has changed with so many new buildings as well as the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel upgrade. It was simple to park my car with the valet, stroll into the light bright foyer and into Costero.
The first thing I noticed was that the décor was bright and reminded me of my beloved boutique hotels where I normally stay when traveling. The nice hum of guests checking in and out after an enjoyable night as well as seeing people sitting by the pool soaking in the California sun.
I loved the design of the reception area that offers not only seating with lots of natural light but also a work area for people to plug in laptops/cell phones and other devices (can I just say how GREAT it is to have a plethora of outlets!). Everyone was relaxed and quietly working or just using their phones. One of my biggest frustrations when traveling for work is looking around for an electrical socket! When my phone is down to 7% I feel like I’m in the Hunger Games competing and willing to fight to the death for the last one. They also have a couple of seating areas to accommodate everyone from families to individuals.
Once I walked past the bar (hello Happy Hour) and entered the private room the first thing I noticed was the crag quiche that looked so yummy. Everyone raved over the buttery Crab Quiche and I have to say I was so tempted to take a bite (alas seafood allergies). The scent of Cinnamon was calling me from across the room with their freshly made Doughnuts with Anglais Sauce. They were my first bite and didn’t disappoint. Light and airy with the perfect doughy melt in your mouth that teamed up with my coffee had me planning brunch with friends as we shop on the west side for the holidays. The menu selection was a delight that danced across my tongue. I could not resist the Brussels Sprouts and Pork Belly with the homemade parker house rolls. Did I mention that I have a weakness for carbs?? I was incredibly impressed with Costero Bar Bistro’s food that is worth the trip! Normally when I stay in a hotel I don’t eat in the restaurant but I was incredibly impressed with the food and presentation. The sauces, seasonings and variety of items are appealing to everyone no matter what dietary restrictions they may have.
What a wonderful brunch finished off with the signature Sheratini that was all kind of right. Next time you plan on flying out of LAX you have to check in to the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles where they offer a work lounge overlooking the runway, a great bar, delicious food AND a shuttle. It’s a win win for a staycation, travelers and locals looking for a new place to enjoy a night out.
