Cherry the Geek TV recently spoke with Suitable Flesh director Joe Lynch and star Heather Graham on the red carpet at the 51st Annual Saturn Awards.
Suitable Flesh is a horror film written by Dennis Paoli based on the H.P. Lovecraft short story The Thing on the Doorstep. Graham stars as a psychiatrist who becomes obsessed with a young patient who is suffering from extreme personality disorder. This leads to a terrifying body swap which thrusts the story forward. The film was originally developed by horror master Stuart Gordon until he sadly passed away. The film also stars horror icon and frequent Stuart Gordon leading lady Barbara Crampton.
Lynch took over the film after Gordon passed away. “Stuart Gordon was one of those filmmakers who definitely influenced me and probably so many of the other filmmakers here tonight and to take the reins and make a movie that hopefully he would have been proud of–it was a dream come true. (Suitable Flesh) is a loving homage to Stuart Gordon, to all those Lovecraft adaptations back in the day like Re-Animator and From Beyond, and to watch Heather Graham and Barbara Crampton beat the crap out of each other–you can’t go wrong,” Lynch said.
Graham said she enjoyed the body swap nature of the film and stepping into the HP Lovecraft/Stuart Gordon world. “It was fun to do that,” she said. “Barbara Crampton is really cool. She produced the movie. She made it happen. The part was originally written for a man and for the film they switched it to a woman which I’m very grateful for because then I got to be in it.”
Suitable Flesh is now streaming on Shudder.
