I attended the Designer Convention 2011 in Pasadena on November 5th. I had the most fun EVER and got to meet quite a few artists. It was great to see such a diverse group of men and women who are following their passions.
I fell in LOVE with Booty Babe Art. They are beautiful lifelike full figured black women created by Spencer Davis. Such affirmation as a plus sized woman!
I thought it was so fun to meet Adah Glenn the street artist and creator of AfroPuff. She has taken charge of the Piccaninny image!
I got to meet Jack Venturo who is a creative artist that brought a selection of his work from his site Jackorama. His prints, drawings and a diarahma that features everyone’s favorite bounty hunter Boba Fett!

What is Designer Con all about? Having fun and meeting all your favorite artists, designers, manufacturers, and vendors! Designer Con was founded in 2006 under the name Vinyl Toy Network. The show was created to bring together artists, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in the vinyl toy/collectible figures market. The first show was in an 1,100 sq. ft. meeting room at the Pasadena Convention Center and has now grown into a 25,000 sq. ft. hall with over 90 vendors, art & custom shows, live demonstrations, and much more. Designer Con now incorporates everything in the world of design including apparel, plush, printing, sculpture, designer toys, and art ranging from fine to urban. The show was founded and still run by companies who are also vendors which is why we strive to provide a fun, safe, comfortable environment for fans, artists, and vendors to meet! We look forward even bigger and better shows every year through the continued support of our amazing vendors and attendees. Without you, this show would not be possible, so from all of us at Designer Con, thank you! |
