So excited that Starz is bringing to San Diego Comic Con the stars and creators of Outlander and Ash vs Evil Dead this year! I hope you got your pass and are ready to camp out on Thursday, room 6A at 6pm. Friday is all about Outlander in Ballroom 20 at 4pm! I’ve already asked to be on the press list and am NOT ashamed to beg to interview them!
Hmm I already did my highlander joke to Caitriona and Sam which left them a bit perplexed when I spoke to them last year (interview on YouTube). I’ll stick to the show, the screen chemistry and of course the heaving bosom .. I’m talking about his! <hubba hubba> he does look VERY nice without a shirt! <snicker>
Any geek worth their salt have been going NUTS that Sam Raimi has brought Ash to the small screen! Meet my boomstick indeed!
“Ash vs Evil Dead,” which is currently in production in New Zealand, is the long-awaited follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead and is set to premiere on STARZ in Fall 2015. The 10-episode first season of the half-hour series is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bruce Campbell, the original filmmakers of the franchise, and Craig DiGregorio who will serve as executive producer and showrunner.
Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
The cast is led by Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, “Burn Notice”) in the role of Ash Williams, Lucy Lawless (“Salem,” “Spartacus”) as Ruby a mysterious figure who believes Ash is the cause of the Evil outbreaks, Ray Santiago (“Touch,” Meet the Fockers) as Pablo Simon Bolivar, an idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick, Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) as Kelly Maxwell, a moody wild child trying to outrun her past and Jill Marie Jones (“Sleepy Hollow”) as Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper set to find our anti-hero Ash and prove his responsibility in the grisly murder of her partner.
“Outlander”
Have you succumbed to the dulcet tones of this romantic fantasy drama? It’s a beautiful period drama with a solid cast based on a series written by Diana Gabaldon that is historical fiction but with the twist of time travel, social norms, sex, intrigue and a bit of mystery. I have to say one of the things that I enjoy about the series is the red hot screen chemistry! My other favorite is how it shows that social norms are fluid and constantly change about what’s ‘normal’. It’s a show unlike anything else on TV or I’ve ever seen.
“Outlander” spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history and adventure as it follows Claire Randall, a married WWII combat nurse who mistakenly falls back in time to 1743. As the season continues, Claire and Jamie’s relationship is tested and Claire must reconcile her modern mindset with this 18th century world. Ruthless redcoats, volatile clan politics, and a brutal witch trial force Jamie and Claire to escape to a new home. Just when their life as a married couple begins to take shape, Jamie is once again drawn into Captain Randall’s darkness. Ultimately, Claire discovers there is a fate worse than death as she struggles to save Jamie’s heart, as well as his soul.
Leave a comment below on what I should ask the cast of the shows! I might choose it when I talk to them at San Diego Comic Con.
