WORST TO FIRST:THE TRUE STORY OF Z100 NEW YORK is a new documentary that portrays the inspirational launch and rise of the iconic and most successful radio station in history, New York City’s Z100. In 1983, Z100 launched from the swamps of New Jersey, with a Top 40 format, and a “morning zoo crew” led by Radio Hall of Famer Scott Shannon. The station was in last place (#51) but Shannon created an army of listeners and fans who helped the station move to #1 in just 74 days.
Shannon is the main focus of the film and tells the story along with many others who worked at the station past and present, and also features music icons like Jon Bon Jovi, Joan Jett, Debbie Gibson, Taylor Dayne, Gavin DeGraw, and other broadcast personalities like Geraldo Rivera, Joe Piscopo, Jim Kerr, and Elvis Duran.
WORST TO FIRST writer/director/producer Mitchell Stuart sat down with Cherry the Geek TV to discuss the making of the film, New York radio, Scott Shannon, and more. You can see the full interview by clicking the link below:
