1982 was quite the year for movies. Listing the titles is like a greatest hits of beloved cinema–Star Trek II:The Wrath of Khan, Conan the Barbarian, The Road Warrior, Blade Runner, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, John Carpenter’s The Thing, Poltergeist, The Dark Crystal, Creepshow, Rocky III, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Grease 2 (the SUPERIOR Grease movie), The Beastmaster, The Secret of NIMH, Megaforce (well…maybe not Megaforce)– all of them and many more made up the cinema landscape in 1982.
The films are given an in-depth look in 1982: Greatest Geek Year Ever!, a 4-part docuseries premiering on The CW this Saturday July 8th at 8pm ET/PT. The series looks at the movies with stars, directors, writers, producers, critics and pop culture historians sharing their insights into what makes them so great.
