Just kidding I remember seeing Ben in Goodwill hunting and between him and Matt Damon .. well most people I knew were saying that Ben was the one to watch. Well Matt turned out to to be the dark horse that stole the pennant with his bold choices from playing a young man seduced by THE Las Vegas lounge singer (Behind the Candelabra) to his playing against type as a smart action hero (Bourne series) it always seemed as if Ben’s decision to go ‘Hollywood’ with parts that are expected from the average leading man. He’s had so many near misses of flaming out from the awful comic book movie Daredevil to Gigli (Jlo ‘romantic’ comedy) that are the ‘bankable’ movies that Hollywood felt would be hits (but always misses) with his movie star looks but just never connected with audiences. As he’s matured his decision to chart his own path with directing and self casting (his prerogative) to create roles where he’s able to shine it seems that maybe playing darker richer roles is his sweet spot. Now if only we won’t have another Daredevil disaster with his newest comic book movie role ‘Batman vs Superman’. But until that movie arrives I’m looking forward to Gone Girl that looks a lot it’s based on the murder of Laci Peterson by her husband Scott (on death row convicted of her murder) but unlike real life this looks full of twists and turns with red herrings of is she really dead or did she fake it??? WHO killed her the mystery man or her husband. This is on my list of movies to see with a big bag of popcorn!
GONE GIRL — directed by David Fincher and based upon the global bestseller by Gillian Flynn — unearths the secrets at the heart of a modern marriage. On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has gone missing. Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble. Soon his lies, deceits and strange behavior have everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?
