Australia is going Hollywood with an intimate Oscar Nominee Reception on Friday, February 24th at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills.
Screen Australia and Australians in Film are celebrating Australian filmmakers nominated for the 89th Academy Awards®
This year Australia has 13 nominations including two in contention for best motion picture ‘Lion‘ and ‘Hacksaw Ridge‘, the first foreign language nomination for ‘Tanna‘ based on a true story and visual effects for ‘Deepwater Horizon‘.
I need to catch up on Oscar nominated films especially from Australia. I had heard of Lion and meant to see the film of a boy lost in India and adopted by an Australian family on a journey of discovery of his homeland. It looked luscious with a star I’ve enjoyed in other films telling a story I’d never seen on the screen before. Tanna I had never seen or heard of but reading about two star crossed lovers fleeing their fate makes me think of Romeo and Juliet so looking forward to watching this over Valentines!
The event is supported by Qantas, Australian Consulate Los Angeles, Ausfilm and Penfolds.
