I saw this article in Marie Clair (online) about what your zodiac sign says about your careerĀ and of course my curiosity took hold so clicked the link to see what it says about my astrology sign (Cancer). It pretty much falls inline with numerous career theories on how to find the ideal job based on your personality. To a certain degree it’s pretty true for my personality. I’ve always enjoyed jobs that I find intellectually challenging, that enabled me to ‘wear many hats’ and that gave me autonomy on planning out work projects. I like making a positive change so have always looked for jobs with companies that fit in my personal philosophy of ‘doing good’ and making the world a better place. The few jobs that I’ve taken just for the money always left me feeling out of sorts and confined by a office culture that rubbed me the wrong way. I do know people who are fine with jobs they hate as long as they make a lot of money and I suppose it’s because they are able to turn off the part in their minds that looks at a job as part of their entire being. I feel my job has to be something I like because I often spend more time at work with co-workers than I’ve ever spent with a boyfriend or family.
As I embark on a new career path after leaving the University of Southern California I can’t help but wonder what 2016 will bring to me. Will I return to higher education or work with the tech industry? I do know the jobs that I have been looking for are ones that will utilize my love of organizing events, communication and organization skills as well as my interest in the start up community.
I will likely stay in SoCal unless I find an opportunity worth uprooting myself but who knows what life will bring. I do know that I am ready for adventure so have my bullwhip, stetson and bomber jacked ready to leap into life ala Indiana Jones!
CANCER (JUNE 21 – JULY 22)Ā
Cancers are the most traditional, nurturing sign of the zodiac, so they like to lead by example and can handle responsibility with ease. You are, by definition, a caretakerāso any job that lets you give advice and problem solve to make everyone happy is a great one. You don’t do well in careers where you can’t see your work making a difference or getting resultsāwhether that’s with a person or in the bottom lineāso make sure you’re getting the motivation you need from your managers with regular check-ins or reports.
Ideal careers:Ā Cancers make natural childcare workers and nannies, but they also make amazing social workers, human resource employees, lawyers, teachers, and executives. Healthcare and wellness are also important and vital parts of this sign, so anything in those arenasālike being a dietitian or nutritionistāare right up your alley.
