Step into the 1800’s with the exclusive Alienist Exhibition at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills starting January 13th
Celebrate the new series premiering January 22nd on TNT with ‘The Alienist: From Sketchbook to Screen Exhibit’ that will feature costumes, photography, art pieces and more from the limited series. The exclusive Los Angeles display opens to the public on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Michael Kaplan the award winning costume designer who you ‘know’ from the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Blade Runner, Fight Club and Flashdance is taking us to the past from the Caleb Carr novel.

As he’s done so brilliantly in features, Michael enriched the world of The Alienist with his unique vision and meticulous attention to detail,” said Michael Engleman, TNT’s EVP of Marketing and Brand Innovation. “We’ve been fortunate benefactors of his stunning work and are delighted to showcase it at the Paley Center.”
The inspiration behind The Alienist exhibit gives a glimpse of the abstracted architectural and environmental features that are represented throughout the scenography of the series filmed in eastern Europe. The concept focuses those themes on one dominant and dramatic idea – suspension – to showcase the Gilded Age costumes and books in a unique and intriguing way.
“The Alienist will take visitors through the world of 1896 New York, a place where mystery lies beneath a glittering surface,” said Maureen J. Reidy, the Paley Center’s President & CEO. “It’s an honor to present this incredible exhibit that captures the mood of TNT’s highly anticipated new series.”
The Alienist is a psychological thriller set in the late 1800’s exploring the fledgling use of mental pathologists as they track the first known ritualist killer muddling young boys in New York City during the ‘Golden Age’. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl, Rush), a brilliant and obsessive “Alienist”, John Moore (Luke Evans) and Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning) are the trio out to unmask the fiend and prove the effectiveness of their research despite the police and powerful people who want to keep the evil quiet. The new series based on the award winning novel by Caleb Carr was filmed in Budapest, Hungary. The series was co-produced by Paramount Television and Turner’s Studio T. BAFTA-nominee Jakob Verbruggen (Black Mirror) serves as director and executive producer along with Emmy® winner Cary Fukunaga (True Detective), Academy Award® winner Eric Roth (Forrest Gump), Academy Award® nominees Hossein Amini (Drive) and E. Max Frye (Foxcatcher), Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin and Rosalie Swedlin, along with Chris Symes. Serving as co-executive producers on the series are Marshall Persinger (Rectify) and Jamie Payne (The Driver).
The Paley Center exhibit is free and open to the public that is part of an ongoing exhibit showcasing the artistry of the entertainment field. Guests are able to see behind the scenes of television series creative process.
