ALIEN 40th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION LAUNCHES WITH SIX NEW TERRIFYING TALES FROM TONGAL’S EMERGING FAN FILMMAKERS
2019 is the 40thAnniversary of the suspenful horror film that created a genre I had never seen before with acid-bleeding Aliens and a strong female hero.
Twentieth Century Fox Film partnered with the global creative community of Tongal for die-hard talented fans to develop and produce an original short set in the world of ALIEN.
Over 550 pitches from filmmakers were submitted and six final stories were selected to bring their stories to life. The selected filmmakers had unfettered access to the franchise from storytelling elements, creatures, and characters that could be used to enrich their vision.
The six shorts pay homage to the original film but allow the directors to put a personal ‘stamp’ vision to terrify horror fans. The first four were screened for fans at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle on Friday, March 15th, and than C2E2 in Chicago on Saturday, March 23rd. The final two shorts both directed by women filmmakers were screened at Wondercon on Saturday, March 30thfollowed by a moderated panel with the directors Kelsey Taylor, Kailey &Sam Spear. All six are available on IGN for Alien and horror fans.
