Airbrush much Project Runway?

Spread the love

Zoinks did you see the new poster for Project Runway new season on Lifetime?

The men are muscular and in shape and the ‘women’ look like pubescent airbrushed teens with of course the one token Black Guy.  I used to be a faithful fan of the show but it just went crazy after the LA season.  Way too much drama and not enough about the mind of the designers and how they create something out of … nothing.  Don’t get me started on how it seems like the winner the last few years I was watching it just had some ugly repetitive designs.  Blech

I think what ‘jumped the shark’ for me was the overweight designer being super nasty to the plus sized woman who he was supposed to make an outfit for that he spoke to like she was dirt on his brand new white shoes.  Yes the hosts ‘said’ it was wrong for him to treat her that way but they didn’t eliminate him on that episode and they still have a very narrow view of beauty.  Yes I know fashion is shallow, superficial and often mean but it’s a business and if you keep ignoring your customers they’ll take their money elsewhere.

It’s one of my issues that it seems as if once Project Runway went to Lifetime they had to conform with the vision the network had as opposed to keeping a show intact and their fans happy.  The reason they brought them to Lifetime from Bravo was for the passionate fanbase that they wanted but didn’t seem to understand changing the ‘feel’ of the show wouldn’t make fans happy.  I know I tried to keep loving the show, watched the spin offs and than I thought .. ehh am tired of the lack of diversity of the judges (who were like a greek chorus) that rewarded the best kiss ass as opposed to the designer.  Especially when they would give different complaints about someone being too mainstream (ready made for the mall) and being too avant garde.  I always thought the producers told them who to get rid of and so they had to make up an excuse!
