The world of movies and television is no stranger to adapting books or comics into visual stimulation for fans worldwide. Stumptown is a graphic novel written by Greg Rucka, Matthew Southworth as the artist and Oni Press as the publisher.
‘Stumptown is a modern-day detective fiction series based in Portland, Oregon. Starring Dex Parios, a bisexual female private investigator with a gambling problem. It takes place in the same continuity as Rucka’s novel Fistful of Rain and Atticus Kodiak novels.‘
The adapted TV show features actress Cobie Smulders as the titular character, Dex. The series will focus on Dex becoming a private investigator using her skills as an ex Army vet.
With Jessica Jones having it’s final season and Veronica Mars making a come back on Hulu, I’m excited to see another female led, investigative drama with a different take.
No word on if the show will have a panel at San Diego Comic Con, but according to Ruka on a recent podcast of Word Balloon, he informs the host John Siuntres, that he will have a presence at SDCC Thursday during the con. Although the show doesn’t include any Sci-Fi or supernatural elements, the show boasts an impressive cast who are familiar with Sci-Fi shows and movies.
Stumptown premiers this fall on Wednesday night at 10pm EST. The show stars Cobie Smulders (Marvel’s Agent Hill), Michael Ealy (Almost Human), Jake Johnson (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Camryn Manheim (Ghost Whisperer), Tantoo Cardinal (Frontier), Adrian Martinez (The Blacklist: Redemption) and Cole Sibus as Dex’s brother.
