Dating honestly is my life philosophy

Spread the love

Am I the only one who ‘dates honest’?  I use current photos so that you can see me in all my zaftig glory, use my real age, height and admit that I’m a complete geek but with social skills.

Instead I find most people like to lie by omission where they don’t mention certain things like you won’t notice (when you meet in person) that they added 4 inches to their height or that they lied about how old they were.  I think it’s just so silly since I find people think that when you meet them in person their personality will make up for lies but it doesn’t.  Instead when I meet someone who’s dating dishonestly all that I think is that they are hiding even more than what I noticed.

I know it’s hard to date when your not perfect but I’m not perfect and just think honesty is the best policy.  Also I like to be the one to place the ad that way I get to decide if someone sounds interesting or not.  Not that it always make any difference to men but if you don’t like me than it’s your loss.

I’m not every person’s pot of tea and that’s true for the guys who try to chat me up.  I’m always gripping that I never meet men but I do.  It’s just that sometimes it’s no mutual attraction or (rarely) I’m so attracted to him that it’s too intimidating for me to even  think about dating him or they are outside my dating criteria/wish list.  Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only woman who feels as if she’s a 6 and wants to date within range!  I find nothing more intimidating than a gorgeous guy flirts with me since I can never figure out what they want from a dork like me!  But that might be my own body and physical attraction issues.  I’ve always thought of myself as the ugly duckling that never grew up into a swan.

I mean I don’t have a chip on my shoulder and (as an adult) am not able to accept a compliment (though I do find it very difficult) but have gotten better.  I think part of it is emotional maturity, self acceptance, getting in shape/working out and forcing myself not to compare myself to my family members (all of whom are drop dead gorgeous) and of course actresses/models.  On the rare occasions where I wish I looked like my sister, cousins, my mom/grandmother (when she they were young), aunts and my nieces .. phew it’s a long list of attractive family members!  Well I just say that I’m me and need to just like me for me.

ANYHOO I got a bit off topic.  Once again I see no point in dating dishonestly since eventually we’ll meet in person and see what the other person looks like.  No point in exaggerating about one’s success or education (I WILL research you online).  So just be yourself since we are all looking for one special person not a harem of hotties (well I’m not) just one great guy who will like me just as I am (Bridgette Jones reference).
