Warner Bros. Pictures’ WONDER WOMAN 1984 jumps into theatre AND HBO Max in U.S. on Christmas Day. Ho ho ho to all of us!!!
It’s a new world and HBO Max is thinking ahead with leveraging tent pole films and exclusive TV/Film that will be streaming exclusively on the new platform. Like so many of us in the USA and around the world grappling with Covid-19 they have made the astute business decision to do a hybrid release since the USA is still grappling with rising cases and many theatres remain close.

Warner Bros. Pictures announced yesterday that they will be simultaneously release the superhero tentpole film Wonder Woman 1984 starring Gal Gadot and directed by Patty Jenkins in theatres on December 16th and on HBO Max streaming platform (in the USA) on December 25th to no additional cost to subscribers. This is a blessing to fangirls, fanboys, blerds, geeks and other comic book, superhero action fans that have been anticipating the sequel to the runaway hit Wonder Woman as we shelter in place and wear our masks! It’s been too long since we’ve had Diana swinging that lasso taking down the Nazis! In the new film it’s a new century and decade of greed so Max Lord and the Cheetah are the devilish duo out for world domination and the only standing between them is our favorite Amazon!

Patty Jenkins returns to direct our superhero Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) in “Wonder Woman 1984” the Warner Bros. Pictures’ follow up to the DC Super Hero’s first outing, 2017’s record-breaking “Wonder Woman,” which took in $822 million at the worldwide box office. The film also stars Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as The Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Max Lord, Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta. Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Gal Gadot and Stephen Jones are producing the film. Rebecca Steel Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Marianne Jenkins, Geoff Johns, Walter Hamada, Chantal Nong Vo and Wesley Coller are the executive producers.
Patty Jenkins directed from a screenplay she wrote with Geoff Johns & David Callaham, story by Jenkins & Johns, based on characters from DC. Joining the director behind the scenes are several members of her “Wonder Woman” team, including director of photography Matthew Jensen, Oscar-nominated production designer Aline Bonetto (“Amélie”), and Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming (“Topsy-Turvy”). Oscar-nominated editor Richard Pearson (“United 93”) is cutting the film. The music is by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer (“Dunkirk,” “The Lion King”).
Warner Bros. Pictures Presents an Atlas Entertainment/Stone Quarry Production, a Patty Jenkins Film, “Wonder Woman 1984.” Set to open in domestic theaters on December 25, 2020 in 2D and 3D in select theaters and IMAX, it will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will also premiere on HBO Max in the U.S. on December 25, 2020.
