While HBO’s series Game of Thrones may be over on television, Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the series will be returning to Hall H at San Diego Comic Con next month for one final celebration panel.
Panels for the series has always been some of Comic Con’s most popular ones, with fans camping out overnight to see the show’s stars and creative team discuss the previous season and tease what might be in store for the future. In a surprising move, the show skipped last year’s convention, with no panel and no off-site presence.
Deadline reports that as talks between HBO and confab organizers are in the final stages, exactly which past and present members of the sprawling ensemble that includes Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, John Bradley, Gwendoline Christie, Liam Cunningham, Maisie Williams and Isaac Hempstead Wright will be taking the stage in front of the thousands in the largest room in the San Diego Convention Center are still being worked out, but that it appears “likely” that Harrington WILL make an appearance.
They also note that showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss will most likely not be on the panel but that George R.R. Martin, the writer of the books on which the show is based, will most likely be making an appearance.
San Diego Comic Con will run July 17-21, 2019.
