In a press release, West Hollywood Mayor John J. Duran said, “What started out as a bunch of gay men in drag stumbling in heels on Santa Monica Boulevard in Boystown has become the largest Halloween Carnaval in the world!” 500,000 were expected in West Hollywood for the event, which has been celebrated in the city since 1987. In attendance were a zillion drag queens, pirates, half naked men, half naked women!!! and wicked witches celebrating the holiday season Monday, October 31, 2011.
I saw so many that I loved with my favorites being the Owl and King from Mr. Rogers, Bill Gates Lego Man, Clockwork Orange and the Hollywood Sign. I love clever costumes that are homemade! It’s one of the things that I love about this season in Los Angeles since all these people are so creative and have the skill/ability to create them. I’m such a dork that my costume was me in a long gray XCVII Tshirt dress, short skirt, zombie makeup and a big bow. Next year MIGHT put in more effort but likely will not. I’ve been going as a zombie for far too long to change now!!!
