Well I’ve been excited about Star Wars Rebels after getting a chance to interview some of the cast at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con. I was able to have exclusive interviews (roundtable with Steve Blum & Vanessa Marshall (Hera) with Zeb (Steve Blum), Ezra (Taylor Gray), Tiya Sircar (Sabine). So watching the first season I have to say I did compare the first episode to Star Wars Clone Wars since Dave Filoni (interview at 2012 SDCC) is still the executive producer/supervising director but once I stopped saying to myself well it doesn’t look like clone wars, it’s new people and why did it have to end <wahhh>!!! I quickly grew to love my hard scrabble rebels trying to jumpstart a rebellion all alone! I mean as a geek chick how could I resist a female pilot Hera who stands up to the boys and STILL takes it straight to the Empire. I love a woman who won’t back down and Vanessa really is able to bring a new voice to the Star Wars universe not only as an adult but also as a new ‘Han Solo’ type instead of the usual damsel in distress that is in most action toons and movies! As the season has gone on Dave has really taken the time to give the characters time to develop a backstory that plays into their personality. When we first meet Ezra he’s just a smart aleck kid who I thought was going to be a dark haired Luke. Than as you got to know him you realize he was on his own and had to be self sufficient in a cold hard world. Sabine is woman who wants to use art to get people thinking about everything that the Empire has taken from them as well as kicking some major bootie as she flys around like Boba Fett!
I’m so excited for the second season of Star Wars Rebels after a finale that blew me away!
Like lots of Star Wars Fans I’ve been watching the new series on Disney XD and with the season finale I was blown away. (SPOILERS) The introduction in the final moments of Darth Vader and getting to know the characters over the past months has been a huge pleasure. Now I get to anticipate Sarah Michelle Gellar joining the cast and I wonder if she’ll cause trouble between Kanan and his lady love pilot Hera! Will she join as a part of the new rebel alliance that we just met in the season finale OR will she instead be with the Empire intent on the destruction of the Rebels? Drama bomb!!!
All I can say is that I hope Sarah has some crazy lightsaber that will remind all of us fangirls and fanboys first meeting her as Buffy the Vampire Slayer! Hopefully she, the cast and director will be joining us at the Star Wars Celebration 2015 in Anaheim! I know that I want to ask what it will be like to work with Freddie Prinze Jr., (her husband) again. What it’s like to join the Star Wars Universe. Has she been to Skywalker Ranch. AND has she had a chance to get her hands on an original lightsaber! Squeal my geek fangirl inner nerd is starting to show! Is it wrong that I want to ask her about Buffy the Vampire Slayer since like any crazy fan I can’t help but wonder if she’ll visit the universe again. I have to say it’s unlikely but what can I say so many questions that I need to ask!
