I thought I was the only one who’s trying to discover the best small coffee shop but then came across an article in the September 26, 2011 Fortune Magazine about an incredibly passionate coffee guy in San Francisco. His name is James Freeman and the shop is called Blue Bottle Coffee Company in Mint Plaza. How he came to starting his business, his passion and organization is inspiring. It’s how I feel about my consulting business it’s not just having the desire but putting in the time to research, accepting that you will make mistakes and that you should perfect each step before moving onto the next level. I can’t wait to get to San Francisco so I can wait in line for an hour for this coffee! I hope he’ll be bringing the shop to Los Angeles in the near future! I’m just shocked that his first shop outside of NoCal is in New York. Another reason to be jealous of the Big Apple!!!!
I was even more excited about the 17 best small coffee makers across the US. I am going to save the list and when I happen to be in the perspective cities will have to try them out! If anyone else happens to try them please add a comment so I have someone’s personal opinion!
I’ve been searching for my favorite coffees for a long time since I have always tried to support small business. Not that I’ll like and say I won’t go to Starbucks (they are EVERYWHERE), Peets, Coffee Bean and the Corner Bakery. Sometimes I just want to go grab my coffee, have wifi, a clean table and not be too noisy. But I LOVE to go to tiny little boutique coffee shops since they always have such different beans, styles of roasting, preparation and just the personal attention. My favorite SoCal location in LA is Intelligentsia Coffee and they sell their beans to my favorite restaurant M Street Kitchen.
In San Diego is Brickyard and Coffee & Tea is the best coffee ever. They roast the beans to perfection and it’s one of my favorite places in San Diego. I always make a special trip just to start my day off with their coffee!!!
