Tulsa King was a surprise hit when it debuted on Paramount+ a few years ago. Created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Landman, 1923) and Terence Winter (The Sopranos), the series marked big screen icon Sylvester Stallone’s television series debut.
Stallone stars as New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a former New York mafia capo newly released from prison who was exiled by his boss to set up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dwight builds a new crew from some unlikely locals which includes Bodhi (Martin Starr), Tyson (Jay Will), Armand (Max Casella), and bar owner Mitch (Garrett Hedlund). Their growing business attracts the attention of both Dwight’s former New York crime family who was expecting him to quietly retire away in the sticks and also local and federal law enforcement. Season One ended with Manfredi being arrested and taken away. Season two takes place in the immediate aftermath with Manfredi getting bailed out of jail by his daughter. Manfredi faces threats to his power in Tulsa from new foes like the Kansas City mob led by Bill Bevilaqua (Frank Grillo), a very powerful local businessman named Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough), as well as old foes like his season one foe Chickie (Domenick Lombardozzi). The show remains fun and compelling in its second season.
