I can’t lie RomComs have RUINED me! I’m constantly looking for the ‘cute meeting’ where we reach for the same book or he offers to share his umbrella on a rainy day or our eyes meet across Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con … well that one is my dream geek romcom but you get the idea. I grew up watching and reading romantic movies/novels where the guy knows exactly what to say in a cute geeky way and (in my daydreams) ends up with the geeky gal he’s overlooked all this time that’s been right in front of him. Sadly this has not happened so am still single but still an unequivocal romantic! It’s why I had to download this week’s Free Friday ebook from Barnes & Noble by Ali McNamara called ‘From Notting Hill with Love … Actually’ <sigh> even the title makes my heart flutter with desire to curly up with my nook color and over a cup of hot chocolate simply DEVOUR this fluffy novel! It has everything I want with England, Notting Hill, a comedy of errors and of course romance <sigh>. I just can’t quit my RomCom love so this book will satisfy my itch until a new appealing romantic comedy (preferably British) with a cute but nebbish black woman comes out! I suppose I could try to find my own RomCom ending with a guy of my own by New Years Eve but it would take a miracle, a comedy of errors and a man who wants a ‘work in progress’! tee hee
There’s a reason that so many romantic comedies—in both movie and book form—take place around the holidays. With magic in the air and a new year on the horizon, this time of year is ripe for possibilities. Today’s Free Fridays selection, From Notting Hill with Love . . . Actually by Ali McNamara, is one of the most fun contemporary romances you’ll ever come across
She was a girl, standing in front of a boy…
Movie fanatic Scarlett O’Brien dreams of a life as glamorous and romantic as all the big screen flicks she worships. When a chance house-sitting job in iconic Notting Hill comes along, she knows living in one of her favorite movie settings is an opportunity too good to pass up.
Leaving behind her skeptical friends, family, and fiance, Scarlett heads to London and finds herself thrust into the lead role of her very own romantic comedy. But can real life ever be just like the movies? Larger-than-life new friends, a handsome but irksome new neighbor, and a mystery from her past may prove to Scarlett that living her life like a RomCom is more complicated than she thought!
