LAIKA is coming to MoPOP with a New Exhibit

Spread the love

I’m heading to Seattle to see the LAIKA Exhibit

I have to say I’m a LAIKA fan. I’ve always been fascinated by how they make stop-motion films, the founder, and story ideas. I always get very excited when they announce a new stop-motion film and know it takes a while because of their meticulous work to create the magic on the screen. I had the opportunity to see a few of the artists at SDCC celebrating Coraline’s anniversary. They had a small exhibit of the puppets and some of the staff who did talks about the process discussion. The upcoming MoPOP exhibit will be worth taking a vacation and heading to Seattle to see what makes the magic for the entire LAIKA film collection. I’m especially excited to see if I can see any clues about the upcoming Wildwood since my curiosity is tingling! If you want to attend the preview day become a MoPOP member (details below).

Hidden Worlds: The Films of LAIKA,
the largest exhibition that LAIKA has ever mounted, will open March 17 at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture, spanning more than 7,500 square feet of exhibition space with immersive displays, film artifacts, and interactives spotlighting Coraline (2009), ParaNorman (2012), The Boxtrolls (2014), Kubo and the Two Strings (2016), Missing Link (2019), and Wildwood (forthcoming). For more information, visit MoPOP.org/LAIKA.

LAIKA is a multifaceted community of dreamers, makers, storytellers, scientists, engineers, and artists all committed to making movies that matter. We believe that cinema is a profoundly important and fertile landscape in which we can tell stories that will speak to global audiences, both now and for generations to come. Film is a universally shared cultural language and it’s thrilling to be partnering with MoPOP, which celebrates the power of popular culture and the individuals who create that magic

DAVID BURKE, LAIKA’S CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER AND SVP OPERATIONS
