I wanted to give you the final video from my attendance of the 2011 dineLA Kickoff
I wanted to remind everyone about the 2011 dineLA with great prixe fix menus from restaurants all over the metro area. I’m super excited at the huge selection of cuisine that Los Angeles has to offer and if you want to try something new or a old favorite here’s your chance! You can make reservations as well as taking your chance at just dropping in for lunch or diner.
So I’m going to recommend a few restaurants that I go to all the time who are participating in dineLA. The links will take you to the dineLA prixe fix menus.
I recommend you try RockSugar in Century City for either lunch or dinner. This is one of my favorite Asian Fusion restaurants in town. I also recommend you get either the Mojito or the Margarita. They add a delicious refreshing taste that always tastes great. I recommend the chicken satay or spring rolls, red curry vegetables or the cashew chicken and the banana custard cake (OH MY GOD so delicious)!!!! Dinner would be the green mango salad, salmon and the banana cake (again super yummy)!
If your in Santa Monica you should go the M Street Kitchen (it’s the old La Grande Orange) for dinner i’d get the spinach salad, the dixie chicken (SO yummy) and finish with the chocoloate chip cookie!
Stella Rose their new pizza joint next door. The crust on the pizza is the perfect chewey crispy wood oven taste with great cheese. I’d try the salad, heirloom tomato pizza and the roasted apple crip but the salted caramel sounds yummy too! I can’t make up my mind! It’s not a very big restaurant so I strongly recommend you make a reservation or you might have a long wait! If you want to order from the regular menu I recommend the chopped salad (LOVE it)!
I also recommend the Wilshire Restaurant in Santa Monica. I’ve had some great dinners at the restaurant and love the design of the bar. So I’d recommend the roasted vegetable salad, salmon or shortrib and desert would be the toffee pudding or the smores. It’s intimate, dark but still light enough to see the people your speaking too AND it’s not too loud for conversation. The management are so accommodating when setting up private dinners and are willing to work with tweaking the menu!
If your wanting mexican you should go to Border Grill either downtown or in Santa Monica. I love the skirt steak and the chips and salsa .. YUMMY! I’d get the plantain empanada, mushroom enchiladas and Mexican cookies in Santa Monica. I’d try the tortilla soup or the empanada, Mexican chopped salad or short ribs and for dessert the sorbet.
You have to try Comme Ca in West Hollywood I LOVE their food. I’ve been here for dinner a couple of times and just love it. It transports me to France. If I go for lunch it’s the mushroom risotto (perfect for this rainy week) and dinner will be salmon. I LOVE their salmon it’s always cooked perfectly! The food is so tasty, great menu selections and I’ve never had a bad meal yet!!
I want to try a few new places either this week or the second week of dineLA and here’s what I would get….
Blu Jam Restaurant in LA I’ve heard from friends the food is really good. After looking over the menu I want to get the mushroom salad, am filled with curiosity of what’s burrata??? and the barramundi ..
Fig Restaurant in Santa Monica since I’m in love with the sustainable natural food movement. It’s nice to eat healthy and know I’m not destroying the environment. Plus I have to say the menu looks super yummy. Must try the Red Beet Risotto, Steak Frites (what can I say I’m an Iowa Girl) and the blueberry shortcake .. mmmm blueberry!!! tee hee
Engine Co. No. 28 has the dinner of my dreams. It’s pumpkin soup (so seasonal!!), top Sirloin and the sweet potato pecan pie! I LOVE sweet potato pie and wonder if it’s as good as my grandma’s!?! I’ll be the judge of that and let everyone know! hmmmm sweet potato!
